Locust Valley students have been recognized in the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association’s 35th Annual Student Poetry Contest. The theme of the contest was Lessons Learned and the winners learned that their hard work has paid off.
Shari Zindman’s third grade class at Locust Valley Intermediate School earned the award of Grand Champion in the grades 3-4 category. Ms. Zindman’s class has won an award in the contest for 30 straight years!
Locust Valley Middle School sixth grader Valentina Grazioso earned Honorable Mention in the contest’s grades 5-6 category.
The winners will be recognized during a virtual ceremony hosted by the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association in June.
Congratulations to these exceptional young poets!
