Dear Locust Valley CSD Community,
The Locust Valley Central School District Board of Education is grateful for the dedicated service that Dr. Carl Bonuso has given to the district as the Acting Superintendent. Dr. Bonuso committed to a short-term contract with the district and his last day will be Aug. 11. He has been an asset to the staff, students and community and has had a positive impact on the education our students are receiving.
Dr. Thomas Dolan will begin as the Acting Superintendent on Aug. 12 and will remain with the district for the entire 2019-2020 school year, subject to the issuance of a waiver from the Commissioner of Education. We are confident that he will bring the same value to our community that we received from Dr. Bonuso. Dr. Dolan served as the Superintendent of the Great Neck Public Schools for six years. He retired from that position having enhanced the academic success of the 6,700-student district.
Dr. Dolan went on to serve as the Interim President of Nassau Community College, where he helped guide the college towards an appropriate remedial plan that would allow them to maintain accreditation. Following that role, he spent two years working to help St. Johns University open its new graduate center and then served as the Interim Director of Student Support Services in the Northport-East Northport School District where he not only supervised school counselors, nurses and social workers, but also created the district’s first Guidance Plan.
Dr. Dolan clearly brings the leadership experience that will enhance Locust Valley Central School District in many areas. We hope you will welcome Dr. Dolan and continue to work in partnership on behalf of this wonderful school community.
