Once again, Locust Valley Central School District has been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by The NAMM Foundation, for its outstanding commitment to music education.
The designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. This award recognizes that Locust Valley is leading the way with learning opportunities as outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act.
“Locust Valley truly is one of the Best Communities for Music Education, and it is because of the support of the parents, administrators and Board of Education,” said Marc Yavoski, music subject matter coordinator. “From kindergarten music classes to high school students playing a concerto on stage, there is a tremendous amount of passion for the arts, and we are grateful for the support.” He added that the dedication of Locust Valley music teachers to helping their students become the best musicians they can be is also a tremendous factor in the program’s success.
The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit organization supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants. The foundation advances active participation in music making throughout one’s life by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public-service programs.
