Notes on Multiplying Fractions

**Method 1:** Use only for small fractions Example:

- Step1: multiply the numerators (across)

- Step 2: multiply the denominators (across)

- Step 3: Reduce the fraction

**Method 2:**
Example:

- Step 1: cross reduce (divide opposite numerators

and denominators by the same number:

Cross reduce the other numerators

and denominators by their common factor.

- Step 2: multiply across.

- Step 3: reduce again, if possible.

**Another note**: You may also reduce each faction to their
lowest form before starting each of these methods. The **more** you **reduce**
**before** you multiply, the easier it will be to multiply accurately
