Katrina Cappiello has worked hard on the soccer field and in the classroom, and her hard work has paid off. Katrina recently signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer at NYIT.

Katrina has earned All-Conference 2012, All-Class 2011, the Sportsmanship Award and played for eight years on Club Team Tornados. She was also team captain.

Soccer Coach Ann Monsees describes Katrina as dependable and trustworthy.  Ms. Monsees said Katrina is a goal-oriented achiever and a leader. She promoted soccer by leading clinics with her teammates for younger players.  “She is a leader that exhibits courage, strength, and determination,” Ms. Monsees said.

While excelling in athletics, Katrina pursued a demanding academic program including Honors, Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Guidance Counselor Faith Keenan said one of Katrina’s strengths is art and design, which makes it no surprise that she plans to study architecture at NYIT. Katrina consistently makes High Honor Roll and was inducted into the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society. She will graduate with a Locust Valley Diploma with Distinction.

LVCSD Director of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics, Mark J. Dantuono, said that being a product of Long Island soccer leagues and Long Island high school soccer, makes it very special that she will play for NYIT, right here on Long Island.

Congratulations Katrina!
