The Locust Valley Central School District Board of Education was recognized for its dedication and outstanding commitment to the school district during the Oct. 22 Board of Education meeting. The New York State School Boards Association recognizes Oct. 22-26 as School Board Recognition Week, making this the perfect time to remind Board members that the endless amount of time they volunteer to our community is appreciated.

Interim Superintendent of Schools Thomas P. Dolan, Ed.D., presented each Board member with a certificate of appreciation and thanked them for making a difference in the lives of so many children.

Gabby Harrington, president of the Locust Valley School Employees Association, expressed gratitude on behalf of her members and presented the Board members with tokens of their appreciation. Representing the administrators’ union, Middle School Assistant Principal Michael LoGerfo and High School Assistant Principal Lisa Czerniecki also praised the Board for working to ensure that students of all ages receive the best education possible.

“The Board of Education spends endless hours each week reviewing reports, holding committee meetings, attending school functions and listening to community members,” Dr. Dolan said. “The reward for this unpaid work is seen in our classrooms, where children are being educated by outstanding teachers, using tools they have because of the support of the Board of Education. For this and so much more, we are grateful for their work.”
