The LVCSD Administration and the Board of Education continue to be committed to maintaining the safety of our students.  To that end, the Board of Education meeting on Jan. 16, 2013 included an interim report from the District Safety Committee, which is currently reviewing the District Safety Plan. While, the District Safety Plan is reviewed and updates are made on a regular basis, the value of reviewing our plan in light of the recent tragedy in Newton, Ct. is also apparent. The report described ways in which school administrators are re-evaluating and improving safety measures and security plans for each of our schools. The District Safety Committee is reviewing our district plan as well. They are all working together to make any necessary updates in a timely fashion. Input from parents, students, faculty, and other community members are being considered. Experts in the field of school security will also serve as consultants and will review all recommendations. An updated report will be presented at the next Board of Education meeting on Feb. 6, 2013 in the Middle School/High School Mini-Theater at 8 p.m.
