LVCSD Appoints New Administrators

The Locust Valley Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of three administrators. Erik Nakutavicius has been named the Director of Facilities, Bryan Sarandrea will be the Coordinator for Social Studies and Business, K-12 and Amy Watson will be the Coordinator for ENL and World Languages, K-12.

Mr. Nakutavicius comes to the district from the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District, where he has served as Director of Facilities and Transportation since 2014. He has also served as Assistant Manager of Airport Maintenance for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey from 2011-2014 and held various positions with them prior to that, including Staff Services Engineer and Staff Airport Engineer Environmental Engineer. Mr. Nakutavicius brings a wealth of experience that will benefit the district in many ways. His expertise will ensure that capital projects are completed efficiently, on budget and on schedule. Additionally, he will oversee the maintenance of the facilities, keeping up with needed repairs and ensuring the safety of our students and staff. Mr. Nakutavicius earned a Bachelor of Science in biological and environmental engineering from Cornell University.

Mr. Sarandrea joins the Locust Valley school community from the East Meadow School District where he has served as Chairperson of Social Studies and English since 2015. He held multiple positions in the Hicksville School District prior to that, including social studies teacher and Director of Evening High School and was named Teacher of the Year. As a teacher, he guided students to learn in a way that increased their grades on college-level exams. Mr. Sarandrea has a passion for instructional technology and is working towards earning the educational technology program certification from Molloy College. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in history and Master of Arts in secondary education from Adelphi University and a post-master’s advanced graduate certificate in education leadership from Stony Brook University. Mr. Sarandrea is a member of several professional organizations, which provide professional development throughout the year. 

Ms. Watson is moving to her new position after serving as the Assistant Principal of Locust Valley Elementary Schools since 2012. While holding that position, she also served as the district’s World Languages Supervisor for six years. Prior to that, Ms. Watson held the title of World Languages Coordinator and was a Spanish teacher in the Locust Valley Middle School/High School for seven years. Ms. Watson joined the Locust Valley school community after working in the Manhasset and Elmont school districts as a Spanish teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish language and Hispanic literature culture from the State University of New York College at Old Westbury, a master’s degree in secondary Spanish education from LIU Post and a post-master’s advanced graduate certificate in educational leadership from the Stony Brook University.
