IB Information Sessions

Wednesday, January 9th at 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM (in the Mini Theatre) – Parents
Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (in the Auditorium) –  Parents and Students

Dear Parent/Guardian,

As you may know, Locust Valley High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program offers our students wonderful opportunities to challenge themselves both inside and outside of the classroom.  Over the past few years, our students have increasingly accepted those challenges.  In fact, more than 80% of our graduates have completed at least one college level course while at LVHS.

With the course selection process beginning within the next few weeks, it is important that you and your child know how the IB Diploma Program and individual IB courses can expand students’ academic life, increase their readiness for college, and strengthen their transcripts for college applications.

Mr. Buonaspina, LVHS IB Coordinator, will be conducting two IB Information Sessions on Wednesday, January 9th , in the morning at 8:30 AM in the Mini Theatre and in the evening at 7 PM in the High School Auditorium. These sessions are designed to address the needs of our current 9th and 10th grade parents.  However, all parents, especially those of current 8th grade students, are welcome to attend.

Our hope is that you will be able to attend at least one of these sessions. The morning session is designed for parents only, and will include similar information to the evening session. There will be a couple of our current IB students available as well to assist with answering student directed questions about the program. The evening session is designed though for both parent and child and will also include some of our current IB students as part of the presentation.

    •    Wednesday, January 9th at 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM (in the Mini Theatre) – Parents
    •    Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (in the Auditorium) –  Parents and Students

We hope that you are able to attend one of these sessions.  If you are unable to make either presentation, but still wish to learn more about the IB program at LVHS, please feel free to contact Mr. Buonaspina to arrange a time and place to discuss this program directly with him. He can be reached at 277-5157 or via email at rbuonaspina@lvcsd.k12.ny.us.

We look forward to seeing you on January 9th.

Sincerely,

Kieran J. McGuire, Ed.D.                                  .
