The Wrestling Team won the season’s home opener with a strong performance over the Marines of Long Beach. Louis Falciano opened the match with a 2-1 victory and gave the Falcons an early 3-0 lead. The Falcons dropped back-to-back decisions at 285 and 99, and trailed 7-3 heading into the 106-pound match.

Hunter Dusold used a 3/4 nelson to pin his opponent and put the Falcons up 9-7. Dropping the 113-pound match, the Falcons trailed 11-9 headed into the premier match of the night as Nick Casella took on Steven Sewkemar. Sewkemar is the #1 ranked wrestler in Division I.  Falling behind 2-0, Casella quickly reversed Sewkemar and scored near fall points with a cradle to end the first period up 4-2 en route to a 9-2 victory.

The win by the Casella was the start of 8 consecutive victories by the Falcons. John Pedranghelu, Dan Casalino and Jason Henris were all victorious by decision. Mike Dusold, Jordan Formicola and Yamique Webb won by pin, and Jay Dee Medina won a wild match at the buzzer to put the match out of reach for the Falcons.

At 138 pounds, Sam ward pinned his opponent to notch his 100th Varsity win.

This Locust Valley vs. Long Beach match was aired on MSG Varsity, channel 14.
