The first inductees into the Locust Valley Hall of Fame were honored at an induction ceremony and dinner that also unveiled the Wall of Fame to the community. Thanks to the generosity of Falcon Pride, the Wall of Fame digitally highlights exceptional athletes from Locust Valley’s history.

A selection committee chose this year’s honorees for their contributions to Locust Valley sports and their athletic success after high school – both in college and in the pros. Frank Brickowski (Class of 1997), Carl DeStefanis (Class of 1980), John Mohring (Class of 1974) and Fred Smith (a coach from 1967-1998) were honored at the high school by LVCSD administrators, the Board of Education and Falcon Pride. The ceremony followed the school’s homecoming festivities, at which the inductees were introduced during halftime.

Fred Smith, who died this fall, was represented by family members who accepted the honor with pride. Mark J. Dantuono, Locust Valley’s director of health, physical education and athletics, welcomed the honorees and guests to the ceremony, which was open to the entire community. Mr. Dantuono thanked Falcon Pride for providing the school district with such a beautiful format for showcasing athletes.

Following the ceremony, Falcon Pride provided a free catered barbecue for all in attendance.
