Wearing graduation gowns for the first time in their academic careers, Locust Valley Middle School students walked proudly across the auditorium stage to receive their middle school graduation diplomas, marking their official start as high school students.

Members of the chorus sang and the seventh grade band provided the traditional sounds of Pomp and Circumstance, while guest speakers shared memories and advice with the graduates.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Anna F. Hunderfund said that she was extremely proud of the achievements of the class. “You are one of the most extraordinary classes the middle school has ever seen,” she said.

Board of Education trustee Douglas S. Johnson also addressed the graduates and wished them success in high school and beyond. The class officers not only presented speeches, but also served as the masters of ceremony for the entire evening.

Students will be welcomed to the high school with an orientation session in August.
