Students at Ann MacArthur Primary School learned important fire safety tips straight from the experts – the Locust Valley firefighters.  Kindergarten students visited the local firehouse and were treated to tours of the fire trucks and other emergency vehicles.

The children are now better prepared to handle an emergency situation with the tips the firefighters shared with them. Fire safety is part of the school’s curriculum and the trip to the firehouse reinforces the safety lessons they’ve already learned.

Ann MacArthur Primary School Principal Dr. Sophia Gary said the field trip helps the students remember what to do if they find themselves in a dangerous situation. “They remember the tips they received from their local heroes and because the visit is fun, the memories last a long time.”
