The LV Falcons Field Hockey Team clinched the title of League 3 Champions with a big 3-1 win over Friends Academy on Sept. 17.

The Falcons started strong with senior captain Erin Gresalfi and sophomore Lindsay Merenda dominating the center of the field and helping the Falcons to control play. After numerous attempts on the goal by the attacking unit, senior forward Danielle Randazzo scored; however Friends answered, netting a goal with four minutes left in the half, resulting in a 1-1 tie going into the break.

In the second half, the Falcons came out with new determination and strength and shut down any of Friends attempts near the goal. Six minutes into the half, senior captain Lindsay Abraham scored off a feed from junior Izzy Byrne. One minute later Randazzo scored again off a pass from Gresalfi.

The Falcons remained solid with senior captain Sam Nugent, junior Ryann Bressingham, junior Julia Orski, and freshman Kaitlyn McGarry creating strong defensive blocks. Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Scheblein made eight critical saves to secure the win for the team.

The Falcons won their League undefeated 4-0.  The team outscored East Meadow 4-0, North Shore 1-0, Seaford 4-1, and Friends 3-1.

The Falcons start Conference play on Sept. 22 with hopes of continuing winning within another grouping of Nassau schools!
