While students and their families were soaking up the last remaining bits of summer vacation, the LVCSD staff returned to school to do some learning of their own. Superintendent’s Conference Day offered faculty members an opportunity to attend workshops that would aid them in their daily teaching and ultimately benefit their students.

Superintendent, Dr. Anna F. Hunderfund spoke to the faculty and welcomed them back for what promises to be a challenging and successful school year. Staff members met in their respective buildings with their principals to discuss specifics about the school year and prepare as a team for the first day of school.

All teaching assistants and security personnel took part in Dignity for All Students ACT(DASA) training. DASA is a state law which aims to combat bias-based bullying, harassment, and discrimination in public schools, and includes awareness and sensitivity in the relations of people including individuals of different races, weights, national origins, ethnicity, religions or religious practices, mental or physical abilities, sexes, sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions. More information can be found regarding this on the district website at www.lvcsd.k12.ny.us/parents/code_of_conduct.

Staff and classrooms are ready for the arrival of students on Tuesday, September 5th and it promises to be a fantastic year!
