June is a time of transition for many students. Fifth graders at Bayville Intermediate and Locust Valley Intermediate Schools are moving up to the middle school, while eighth graders at Locust Valley Middle School are preparing to start high school in the fall. It is only appropriate to mark these momentous occasions with ceremonies that celebrate these students’ accomplishments.

Intermediate moving up ceremonies included songs and photo slideshows of the children throughout the year, highlighting their growth both physically and academically. At the middle school, student government representatives reflected on the past three years and how much of an impact various activities have had on them. Eighth Grade President Quinlan Ferrante recalled not only fun field trips, but important academic projects that helped the students learn lessons while making new friendships.

The principals at each school spoke to graduates about what the future holds for them, how proud they have made the faculty and their parents, and reminded them to try new things, work hard, and enjoy the rewards that will follow.

Locust Valley Middle School Principal H. Thomas Hogan told the students that they are all individuals and that it is their individual qualities that will make people remember them.

Each fifth grader was honored with an award highlighting their individual talents. Middle School students received academic awards at a special ceremony held earlier in June.

Congratulations to all of the fifth and eighth graders on their accomplishments, and good luck at the middle school and high school in the fall. We can’t wait to see you all there!
