Huge Success for Dress for Success Collection

Members of the high school’s Interact Club recognized that people who are unemployed may have trouble purchasing the right clothing to wear on an interview, or every day when they reenter the workforce. To help combat this problem, the club members joined forces with Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit organization.

For two weeks this fall, the club held a clothing drive, which garnered 12 large bags of clothing that they donated to Dress for Success. The students delivered the clothing to the Brookhaven, New York, location with club adviser Erica Reilly. They received a tour of the clothing boutique and had the opportunity to help style two women for their upcoming job interviews.

Ms. Reilly said this project was very rewarding for the club. “The Interact Club performs a variety of community service activities that are fulfilling, however, this one afforded students the experience of seeing firsthand how their efforts helped specific individuals.”

Dress for Success empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
