Ten members of the track and field team were crowned Nassau County D-II Champions after outstanding performances at North Shore High School on Friday, June 2.

Freshman Nina Cialone was crowned the Division II Long Jump Champion with a jump of 15'11-3/4", while Junior David Fernandez was top of his game in shot put with a throw of 42'3.25".

The boys and girls 4x100m relay teams qualified in a thrilling fashion. The boys' team of senior Cole Madden, junior Adam Magana and sophomores Vincent Alesi and John Kasday edged out the competition with a time of 46.54 seconds beating West Hempstead by .08 seconds. The girls' team was victorious with senior Alex Vassallo, juniors Lily D'Addario and Arianna Lombardi, and sophomore Bethany Zekraus in 51.48 seconds.

Senior Megan Prosser was crowned the Division II Triple Jump Champion with a jump over 33 feet while her teammate Roisin O'Neill was top of her game in the 800 meter with a time of 2:20.72. This time broke the Locust Valley school record which was held since 1982.

These ten athletes along with relay alternates senior Idrees Khwaja and sophmore Gianna Ferrara will compete in the New York State Track and Field Championships that will be held June 9-10 at Union Endicott High School.
