Congratulations to members of The Spectrum staff for receiving seven awards from the Empire State School Press Association, which sponsors an annual competition for high school publications. This is commendable improvement for The Spectrum, the LVHS student newspaper, which received one award in this competition last year.


  • Noelle Antignano received two awards – a gold award as a photographer and an honorable mention in the news photography category
  • Wally Gurzynski received two awards – Silver for front page and bronze for design.
  • Alex Spear won a silver award in the entertainment/review category.
  • Cory Rabiea also won a silver award in the entertainment/review category.
  • Gabrielle Sant’Angelo won the silver award in the columnist category.


The Spectrum also recently received the Gold Medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for the second year in a row. The Spectrum is posted on this website for the entire community to read.
