Locust Valley High School is a New York State Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction for the fourth consecutive year. This prestigious honor means that every one of the high school’s varsity athletic teams earned scholar-athlete status by achieving a grade point average of 90 or higher during the 2015-16 school year. Locust Valley is one of only a handful of schools in New York State to earn this recognition.

James Amen, a member of the Nassau County Athletic Association and Chairperson of the Section VIII Sportsmanship Committee presented the award to Mark Dantuono, Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics at the Dec. 14 Board of Education meeting.

“It is an absolute honor to be recognized as a School of Distinction,” said Mr. Dantuono. “Our student-athletes work hard on the field and in the classroom and are dedicated to balancing their lives for success.”   Congratulations to all of the students, along with the coaches and teachers who supported them, for excelling in sports and academics at the same time — again!
