Locust Valley High School is proud to announce that five seniors have been recognized for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/NMSQT. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation names the top scorers on the exam each year.

Kristy Jahchan has been named a semifinalist in the prestigious competition. She is one of 16,000 students to perform at exceptional levels on the PSAT out of 1.5 million students that took the exam. Kristy’s sister Natasha was recognized as a commended student in the same competition in 2011.

Michael Catalano, Faith McQuiston, Matthew Rizzo and Colin White have been named commended students. They are among only 34,000 students nationwide to score at exceptional levels on the exam.

Kristy is now eligible to become a finalist in the competition by meeting high academic standards. If selected as a finalist, she will become eligible for National Merit Scholarships. Additionally, College Board shares the name of finalists with colleges and universities. Finalists will be announced in February.

Congratulations to all five students on this elite accomplishment!
