Charles Justin Corso III, a member of the LVHS Class of 2016, earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout and was recognized during a formal ceremony held by the Bayville Boy Scouts this summer. Justin is also a member of the Sea Scouts, the maritime division of the Boy Scouts, and is the first to receive the Eagle Scout ranking under the auspices of a Sea Scout Ship in more than 50 years.

Justin's service project, which was required to earn the Eagle Scout ranking, consisted of repairs and upgrades to the touch-and-go dock at West Harbor Beach in Bayville, reflecting his affinity for boating and his involvement in Sea Scouts. During the formal Eagle Scout ceremony held at the Sagamore Yacht Club on Sunday, Aug. 7, many officials spoke, including Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna F. Hunderfund, who presented Justin with a certificate of accomplishment.

Justin is a freshman at SUNY Maritime College at Fort Schuyler, where he plans to pursue a degree and license in deck operations. His scouting experience will serve him well as he seeks a career in the maritime industry.

Congratulations, Justin!
