Bayville and Locust Valley elementary students enjoyed a very educational and interesting visit from book illustrator and author Paul O. Zelinsky. The students had not only read many of his books, but also created their own projects inspired by his stories.  At AMP and LVI, students participated in a Creativity Challenge, in which they built candy houses and castles from recycled materials, representing the fairy tale style of many of Mr. Zelinsky’s books. In Bayville, students also participated in an art enrichment project by painting a mural, and then had their photograph taken with the author in front of the mural. Additionally, students had the opportunity to have their own copies of the books signed by the author.

Special thanks to all of the elementary school librarians as well as the LVEPC and BPTA for organizing this special event, which enriched the curriculum in so many ways.
