Dear Parent/Guardian,

As you may know, Locust Valley High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program offers our students wonderful opportunities to challenge themselves both inside and outside of the classroom. Currently, over 75 % of our 11th and 12th grade students participate in taking one or more IB courses and we hope to increase that percentage.

With the course selection process beginning within the next few weeks, it is important that you and your child be aware of how the IB Diploma Program and individual IB course offerings can expand your child’s academic life and readiness for college.

Mr. Buonaspina, LVHS IB Coordinator, will be conducting three IB information sessions on Thursday  November 17th, one in the morning, one after school and one in the evening. Our hope is that you and/or your child will be able to attend one of these sessions.

The morning session is designed for parents. The afterschool session is designed for current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. The evening session is ideal for both parent and child to attend. All sessions will run for approximately one hour and a half.

The following times and locations have been established:

  • Thursday, November 17th at 8:30 AM (in the Mini-Theatre) - Parents

  • Thursday, November 17th at 3:00 PM (in the Mini-Theatre) - Students

  • Thursday, November 17th at 7:00 PM  (in the Mini-Theatre) – Parents & Students

We are also fortunate to have several of our current IB students available at these information sessions to assist in these presentations and to answer additional questions you may have about this program.

We hope that you are able to attend one of the scheduled times.  If you have any additional questions or concerns, Mr. Buonaspina can be reached at (516) 277-5157 or at

Thank you for your interest and cooperation.
