In recognition of “Kick Butts Day,” middle school students created and hung a banner in the school to remind students and staff of the dangers of tobacco. The activity was the culmination of a unit on tobacco in health classes.

Students signed a pledge in which they gave five reasons why they would not use tobacco. The pledges had to be signed by their parents.

“Hopefully, the banner will remind people of why tobacco is so dangerous,” said Health Teacher Laura Vera.
