Locust Valley wrestlers had a strong finish at the state championships with two student-athletes earning All-State Honors. Juniors Hunter Dusold and Jon Gomez advanced to the finals and placed third in their respective weight classes. It is a tremendous accomplishment to make it to this level of competition.

First-time county champion Andrew Cantatore battled his way to the quarter-finals at the state level, also an incredible accomplishment.

The opportunity to compete at the state level came after the team captured its fifth consecutive Division II County Championship on Feb. 13th and seven wrestlers were crowned seven champion. They are:

120-lbs. - Jon Gomez

126-lbs.- Hunter Dusold

132-lbs.- Andrew Cantatore

152-lbs.- Bailey O'Brien

170-lbs.- John Pedranghelu

182-lbs.- Bryce Dusold

285-lbs.- Spencer Matthaei

All-County wrestler Alex Cassisi placed second giving an outstanding performance in a tough final match.

138-lbs.- Jack Ward

145- Patrick Briody

285- Robert Hargrave

Congratulations to all of the wrestlers that made it possible to capture this crown for the fifth consecutive year and congratulations and thank you to coach Joe Enea, assistant coaches Tim Bellisari and Cory Haldas and to the middle school coaches Bill Calandra and Jim Rogin, along with Frank Matazzo.
