Students and staff members across the district have contributed to making the holidays a bit happier for some members of the community. Through giving trees and organized secret Santa endeavors, families in need of clothing and toys to brighten their holidays received anonymous gifts.

“Students, families, faculty and staff were happy to provide gifts and holiday cheer to many families in need this holiday season,” said Locust Valley Elementary School Psychologist Alexis Provetto. “This initiative reminds us of what a wonderful community we are a part of, and the importance of giving this holiday season.”

At the middle school, student government members helped to organize the collection of gift cards, so families could purchase what they needed. At several schools, hats and gloves were collected, along with other items of clothing and toys.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna F. Hunderfund said she is always impressed with the generosity in the community. “When there is a need, our students, staff members and families always volunteer to help. This is the true spirit of the holiday season.”
