Nearly 100 families will receive baskets with all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the generosity of students, staff and the Board of Education. Baskets filled with stuffing mix, potatoes, cranberry sauce, juice and gift cards to local grocery stores, among other goods, were donated to the Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club for the club’s annual distribution to families in need during the holiday season.

The districtwide collection is one of many community service projects undertaken each year to give back to a community that helps the Locust Valley Central School District in many ways. Every school in the district, along with the Central Office staff and the Board of Education, created the baskets, complete with the necessary ingredients for a delicious meal and more. In addition to the baskets, more than $650 in gift cards was donated.

“It was truly a pleasure for all of us to help with this worthwhile cause,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna F. Hunderfund. ”We hope that our efforts will make Thanksgiving a little happier for families who are in need in our district."
