Three more LVHS student-athletes have decided to take their athletic careers to the next level by committing to play their sports in college. Emily Barbu, Bridget Murphy and Lydia Volpe have each signed letters of commitment to join college teams.

Emily Barbu will become a member of the SUNY Cortland golf team after a successful career on the LVHS golf team for four straight years. She has also been a valuable member of the basketball team for four year. As a sophomore, Emily earned All-Division honors and as a junior, she earned All-Class honors. She has qualified the past two years to compete in the Nassau County Girls Golf Championships held at Bethpage State Park.

Bridget will join the Pace University field hockey team this fall.

Bridget has been a member of the field hockey, track and field and softball teams. She has emerged as a fierce competitor and solid field hockey goalie in Nassau County. As a senior, Bridget earned All-Conference honors. Her hard work and her desire to succeed helped her gain a spot on this collegiate team.

Lydia will play field hockey at SUNY Geneseo. She is a three-season varsity scholar-athlete and has been a starter and captain on both the field hockey and lacrosse teams. She was a starter on the basketball team for three years as well. Lydia earned All-County honors twice and All-Conference honors in field hockey. She was a key contributor to the success of the field hockey team as they advanced to the Nassau County Class B Semifinals in 2013. She also earned All-Conference honors as a junior in lacrosse and played a big role in the team earning the 2014 Conference III championship.
