Qualifying members of LV's Winter Track and Field team traveled to St. Anthony’s High School for the Nassau County Class B Championship meet to compete against the best athletes from 30 schools.

The following two LV athletes finished top of the class securing All-County Honors:

In High Jump, Austin Balek cleared 5'10" for second place and an All-County medal. Next up, Callie Catacosinos cleared all jumps on her first attempt, finishing at 5’0”, also for second place and an All-County medal. 

The remainder of the athletes put in outstanding efforts against tough competition and finished in the top 20 in Nassau County Class B:

The girls' 4 x 400m relay team consisting of Roisin O’Neil, Lindsay Bleistein, Erin Gresalfi, and Megan Prosser finished in sixth place with a time of 4:43.75.

In the jumping pits,  Mark Hammerschmidt  reached 17' 8-1/2” in long jump while Siobhan O’Neill reached 30’ 8-1/4" in triple jump, both placing eighth in their respective events.

In the shot put ring, Mackenzie Mavros threw 23’ 8-1/2”, placing ninth overall.

In the individual running events Maggie Reid placed 14th in the 1500m run with a time of 5:44.28, Megan Prosser placed 16th in the 55m hurdles with a time of 11 sec. and Roisin O’Neill placed 17th in the competitive 300m dash with a time of 46.34 sec.

Overall, it was a great night for all competitors. Next up for Locust Valley’s top performers is the State Qualifier Meet on Feb. 11, at St. Anthony’s at 6:30 p.m.
