Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and other story-book characters were recently spotted reading to classes at AMP as part of Parents as Reading Partners Week (PARP), sponsored by the Parents Council. The week-long reading celebration included many activities to encourage students to read and show them that reading is fun. One such activity brought parents to classrooms dressed as characters from the stories they were reading.

Other events included a spectacular magic show in which the magic tricks focused on reading. While reading is stressed all year long, having parents participate in activities reinforces that reading can be done at school, at home, and throughout your entire life.

Parent Council members Hayley Byron and Kim Rowe, who co-chaired the PARP committee organized each of the events with the help of some parent readers and Lisa Mazza who created a beautiful bulletin board at the school.
