Using Valentine’s Day as an Opportunity to Help Others

Locust Valley Middle School students are always looking for ways to help others. Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity to have some fun and raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients Program.

Students had the opportunity to pay $1 for LVMS Principal Tom Hogan to paint a heart on their faces during their lunch periods. Sponsored by the LVMS Student Government, the event brought students together for a god cause. Meris First, the student government advisor, said $110 was raised. “Locust valley students always come together for a good cause and with the school’s principal helping out, they were bound to have success!”

The middle school student government holds various fundraisers throughout the year and will continue to raise money for the Pennies for Patients program and donate the total to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the spring.
