Locust Valley High School Juniors Sarah Miller and Drew Wee recently performed on the stage of Lincoln Center, an honor that not many high school musicians experience. Sarah performed on the cello and Drew, on the violin.

The pair was chosen to perform with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Competition Young Musicians Concert after auditioning with almost 50 other high school musicians. Only 12 chamber music groups were selected. Drew and Sarah received coaching from professional musicians from the Chamber Music Society. Locust Valley High School was one of only two schools from Long Island to participate. Sarah and Drew were the only participants to perform their pieces entirely from memory.

Locust Valley High School Music Teacher Marc Yavoski said Sarah and Drew are outstanding musicians. “They are two incredibly talented and dedicated young musicians. Their high level of musicianship and outgoing personalities make them the kind of leaders that their peers look up to,” he said. “I’m so proud of them and happy that they had the opportunity to share their incredible talents in one of New York’s top venues.”

Congratulations to these accomplished young musicians!
