Locust Valley High School has been named a New York State Scholar-Athlete Team School of Distinction. This prestigious honor means that every single one of the high school’s varsity athletic teams earned scholar athlete status, achieving a grade point average of 90 or higher during the 2013-2014 school year.

“Achieving this honor means that our student athletes are remarkable young men and women who give their best on the athletic field, and give their best in the classroom as well,” said Locust Valley Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, Mark J. Dantuono. “This is an honor achieved by only a small percentage of schools and our students should be commended for their dedication to remaining all-around student-athletes. Our coaching staff should also be proud as they truly dedicate themselves to creating well-balanced student-athletes.”

Most years, only about 20 high schools in New York State achieve this prestigious honor.

Congratulations to all the athletes, along with the coaches and teachers who supported them!
