Wearing pajamas, bandages or crazy socks are all ways in which students at Ann MacArthur Primary and Locust Valley Intermediate Schools are fighting bullying. Sponsored by the Site Based team, anti-bullying theme days take place throughout the year, bringing awareness to the topic.

The most recent theme, Pajama Day, was a fun way for students to share the message “Say Goodnight to Bullying.”  Children in Kindergarten through fifth grade donned slippers, flannel pajamas, and their favorite teddy bears and discussed ways to end bullying.

Other themes supporting the ongoing anti-bullying program include:

•    Bullying Hurts – wear your favorite bandage.
•    Put a Sock in Bullying – wear crazy socks.

Locust Valley Elementary Principal Dr. Sophia Gary said using fun themes helps children to focus on the message. “Wearing pajamas is fun for them and reminds them all day that they have the power to ‘Say Goodnight to Bullies’,” she explained. Dr. Gary said Pajama Day was a success and the children are looking forward to the next dress-up day.
