Second graders in Mrs. Kalbacher’s class at Bayville Primary School recently celebrated the Chinese New Year after learning about the Chinese culture and the holiday.

The children found it fun and challenging to eat a snack of oranges and rice with chopsticks, and learned that children around the world have different customs even when it comes to snack time.

“It’s a fun way for the children to learn about other cultures,” Mrs. Kalbacher said. “By doing this activity, it teaches that communities all over the world, although different at first glance, share similarities such as holidays and traditions.”
