Locust Valley High School senior Preston Tansill has been named a News12 Scholar Athlete. Preston was chosen for this honor by News12 for her academic and athletic achievements. This is the fourth consecutive year that Locust Valley High School has had a News12 Scholar Athlete.

Preston is a member of the LVHS Varsity Field Hockey and Lacrosse Teams, and plays ice hockey in an outside league and is an exceptional student-athlete and leader. She is a three-year Varsity starter on the Field Hockey Team, earning All-County honors and leading her team for the second consecutive year to post-season competition. She is Team Captain not only in Field Hockey but also in Lacrosse. She is active on the Locust Valley High School Athletic Council, assisting with all of the preparations for homecoming and volunteering her time each home football game in the concession stand selling food and refreshments.

Preston excels in the classroom as well. She is an IB Diploma candidate, a member of National Honor Society and French Honor Society, and a leader in the high school.  She is President of the student body and will graduate in the top of her class.

Locust Valley High School Guidance Counselor Faith Keenan said, “Preston is intelligent and insightful and she embraces life with enthusiasm and determination.”

“She is a tireless worker,” said Mark J. Dantuono, LVCSD Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics. “She sets the standard for what it means to be a complete student-athlete.”
