Locust Valley Middle School has been designated as a gold-level school in the national Mathcounts program for the third straight year. LVMS is one of only ten schools in the state to receive gold-level status.

Mathcounts  is a national math enrichment program designed to inspire excellence, confidence and curiosity in middle school students. Locust Valley Middle School students in grades seven and eight participate in Mathcounts as an extracurricular club under the direction of Mr. Lee, Mrs. VanNostrand, Mrs. McNamara and Mrs. Ricciardi.

LVCSD Math Coordinator Robert Teseo said the program allows students to explore math at a whole new level. “It gets them to think out of the box, to be challenged by higher-level mathematics equations and exposes them to college-level mathematics.”
