Locust Valley athletes are already preparing for the fall season with early morning practices. Each of the fall teams is performing extensive strength and conditioning drills as well as developing skills and talents which are essential to successfully compete in their particular sport. Teams practice before the start of school in order to meet requirements which must be met in order to qualify to compete in the athletic contests which begin in early September.

Mark Dantuono, our Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics laid the groundwork for our fall season by meeting with coaches and providing an orientation for the parents of our football players. Another orientation for the parents of our other high school athletes will take place on September 1st at 6:30 p.m. in the Mini-Theater. The purpose of these meetings is to provide parents with important guidelines and expectations for the student athletes and an opportunity for parents to ask questions.

Before official practices began this week, Locust Valley athletes attended strength and conditioning sessions, as well as camps and clinics to enhance their skills during the off season.

“Pre-season camp is essential because it provides our coaches with the opportunity to improve student athleticism and get an edge on the competition,” explained Mr. Dantuono.

Everyone is looking forward to the start of the fall season and to cheering the Falcons on to victory!!
